I was diagnosed with Cerebral Degeneration of the brain in 1990. My consultant informed me that this condition is similar to Multiple Sclerosis. At this time I have a mobility problem. I have a wheelchair which I occasionally use, but prefer to use my elbow crutches.
I no longer am employed, so I do volunteer work at a local hospice, where I work in their office and do the administration work for them. It is brilliant there, and I like what I do very much.
I have recently been learning computer skills. I am on a Learn Direct course, learning about data bases. I have already learned spread sheets, the internet, word processing, touch typing (I use two fingers to type) and power point, a presentation package. I put all of these to use when I do my volunteer work. Learn Direct offers people the opportunity to learn different skills. They offer thousands of courses for you to choose from . I am not sure if these courses are offered outside of England, though.
For those of you who chat in People With MS, I go by the name Baggie Boy in the chat room. I have met so many wonderful people since my friend Sandy introduced me to Lesley Anne. PWMS is such a great site to be a part of. I want to thank all of you who are involved in running this group. It is so good of Lesley Anne to host a chat aimed primarily for some of us in England, who can not get to some of the other chats, due to the time differences.
